My only criticism is that they did away with the ticket window. I not often get concessions , so ready in line behind a dozen people ordering their food just to purchase knockes my ticket obtained annoying. There may be an online ticket option Im unaware of. If so, use that if youre not getting food on the theater!
The cellphone recording and the internet site both advertised showings that night, so we made the drive to Greensburg. We had been very disappointed to find the theatre closed, despite multiple formats to inform potential movie-goers of the theatres closing. This is regrettable and poor enterprise practice. Im not sure when, or if my spouse and I will be succesful of find one other alternative to get out and see the movie we had hoped to see.
Outside Megan’s Suite on the positioning of the former Strand Theatre is the landscaped courtyard, completed in 2000 by way of personal funding and donations. If we had identified forward of time that this joke of a theatre was closed, we may have prevented the drive and made alternate plans. Greensburg in the 1920s – as at present – was Westmoreland County’s center of business and cultural activity and supported many theatres throughout the early 1900s. The greatest and most elegant of all was the Manos Theatre, constructed on the positioning of the smaller Rialto Theatre. Originally seating 2136, the Manos Theatre offered the group with every day doses of vaudeville, silent movement footage and road reveals, accompanied by a powerful Wurlitzer organ. A dome of pink, blue, and green lights high within the theatre’s ceiling would blink and flash to the music, much like results seen in today’s curler rinks.
This was the first evening ive had off from work in a month and my one probability to get pleasure from a movie and it was ruined by impolite folks and the employees didn’t try and make it right. Historic aerial views show that the stage house occupied about 2/5 of the theater’s shallow footprint, so the auditorium was wider than it was deep. Although movies were proven in the home as early as 1910, a correct projection booth was not installed until 1923. After the theater closed as a film house in 1958, it remained dark besides for two summers when native talent used it for reside performances.

We were in the space for our babys surgery in Cincinnati and having a new child, particularly a newborn with sophisticated medical care, getting out to see a film can be troublesome. We had arranged for grandparents to observe our daughter whereas we drove to Greensburg. There had been some snow so we checked the web site AND called the telephone quantity looking for any indication that the theatre was closed.
